Shyness and social anxiety is something that effects millions of people everyday. And in social settings, they can feel like they are the only ones that struggle in this situation. But they are not and should not feel that way.

In fact, shyness and a moderate level of social anxiety is a common feeling that run through most people. I believe the problem lies in the mind of the person that is experiencing extreme feelings like these. They believe that they are the only ones that feel this way and that they everyone is looking at them and judging them on a constant basis, but this is not always true.

Everyday people don’t live their lives to the fullest because they are fearful of how others view them in their skin, but they shouldn’t because most of the time most people are not paying enough attention to anyone else besides themselves to even think about another person.

However, in the mind of the person with the social anxiety disorder, they believe that everyone is watching and worst, judging them all the time. This feeling is something that really bothers them and they are not able to function in a full capacity in these settings.

If someone wants to overcome these feelings of shyness and social anxiety, then I believe they are going to have to make efforts to talk to crowds and people in a smaller capacity first, then work their way up. Got a small cocktail gathering of a hand full of people until they can be comfortable there, then work their way up until they have grasp and understanding that large gatherings are just a collection of smaller ones all at the same time and if you engage people, they will engage you.

Avoiding interaction and sheer fear are two of the key social anxiety disorder symptoms. This fear can be so overwhelming that the slightest hint of eye contact could render the sufferer paralyzed. It is a serious disorder that can stop an otherwise healthy person from leading a normal and fulfilling life. It’s not a visible illness and sometimes the key symptoms are not as obvious as you would like with this illness finding strange ways to manifest itself.

Obviously each individual may have different symptoms and if very serious the best help is professional medical help. However before things get that bad you may want to take a look at the problem yourself. Firstly to workout if you definitely have the disorder and secondly to see if it is at all treatable by yourself. You may be sensing anxiety whenever in public or even just with a close friend, you may be feeling other symptoms, but don’t worry this disorder can be treated and you can readily get sensible help.

When you suffer from Social Anxiety Disorder you may find that different things trigger it to go into full effect. For some the mere thought of being in a public situation can onset anxiety, for others any social situation will be the trigger. The more chances that many eyes will be on you the more likely you are to get very anxious! Talking with your boss (or anyone in authority) or leading a meeting / discussion may not be possible for you. It could get so bad that you can’t even meet someone new, use a public bathroom or even stand being in a department store. You can quickly become a recluse and be seen as paranoid! This fear that people will think you are crazy could drive the probelm into even deeper issues!

Some symptoms are psychological and some physical. An upcoming social situation could bring on extreme stress, this could start weeks before an event! The sufferer may become unbearable self conscious which could be mistaken for paranoia. The extremely physical sympton is that of paralysis. A sufferer may actually be unable to move, talk or anything and could evn throw up or feint! This could also lead to heavy bretah, nausia and extreme muscle tension. Shaking is not uncommon and the heart may really start to thud. Other symptons could be sweating, clammy feet and hands and a wavering voice.

This may all sound too much in itself but great news is that many others have suffered and overcome this disorder. Help and treatment is easily within reach and you may be able to overcome your anxiety easier than you thought.

It’s true, social anxiety can lead to depression. Millions of people in the world are living with sever social anxiety, but I want to caution them that this might lead to depression in the long run, so if you can get out of the funk, then maybe it is something that you should consider.

Social anxiety is a strong fear, shyness, and worry over being around crowds of people. Those that suffer from this illness have a real issue with being in a room filled with people. They believe these people are talking about them and the fear and worry about it just eats them up inside. Those that suffer from social anxiety are typically your wall flowers that are not mingling and talking to people because they cannot bare the courage to do it.

Days, weeks, even months leading up to schedule events have them feeling stressed and worried about what is going to happen. It is a feeling that leaves them feeling in adequate and can lead to depression.

I say social anxiety can lead to depression because the person suffering from this illness may not want to be around crowds of people, which leads to loniness, and depression is not far off. If you constantly have the feeling that people are always talking about you, can’t be around them, then eventually you will stay home and avoid people all together.

This isolation can make you feel like you don’t have any friends, cannot go out and have a good time, even effect your job because you don’t want to mingle with others in the industry so you lose out on valuable opportunities and maybe even promotions. These feelings can be the beginnings of a downward spiral that is hard to get out of. I hope this isn’t the path for you, but wanted to let you know that social anxiety can lead to depression.
